There is a fundamental difference between speaking the language of youth and debasing your own language because of your personal lack of intellect. A recent commercial by one of the largest banks here in Cyprus is a prime example of how the wrong individuals, in the wrong posts, at the wrong time, can gradually erode a language, enough to make it completely uninteresting and blunt. Not even the widely-used English language is immune to this pathogeny. Here’s my take on the issue:
